Are Public Adjusters Worth It?

A common question is, “are public adjusters worth it?”  It’s a good question because public adjusters charge fees.  Whether something is worth or not is entirely dependent on what the cost is and what the consumer gets out of it in the end.

For a person to determine whether it is worth it to use a public adjuster, it is best to look at the statistics on this subject. Yes, it has been studied and the numbers have been published. On this front, there is a very good study that your insurance company would rather you not know about from the Office of Program Policy Analysis & Government Accountability (OPPOGA) which states:

For non-catastrophe claims, policyholders who
used public adjusters received an estimated $9,379
on their claim, compared to $1,391 for those
policyholders that did not use a public adjuster
(a difference of 574%). “  (PAGE 8)

Furthermore, the increase in Hurricane settlements was 747%  (PAGE 7)

On Average, public adjusters will be able to get 745% higher claim settlements for hurricane claims, compared to those claims that settled without the use of a public adjuster.

In virtually all cases, when the insurance company has made settlement offers to their insureds, Florida Allstar Public Adjusting has been able to get the insurance companies to pay on average of six times more when you look at both hurricane and non-hurricane claims combined.  There are probably a few reasons why this happens, but for the sake of making this simple, let’s just talk about the most obvious, and without badmouthing the good people in the industry.

One reason this happens is that the insurance carrier sends one of their adjusters to a property and the adjuster who comes out simply writes an estimate of incorrect damages. Nobody is perfect and people are not computers. They make mistakes.  Occasionally it is a lack of experience, but sometimes it is not the company adjuster’s fault at all.  For example, sometimes the insurance company adjuster that comes to a home is overloaded with work and simply does not have the time to be thorough.  Since he is given several cases a day, he is swamped with estimates, which causes him to work too fast and rush through the estimate, causing the company adjuster to leave out important items. Being thorough takes time, and the adjusters who are assigned these claims often don’t have enough time.

So, yes. Public adjusters are worth it.

If you call Florida Allstar Public Adjusting, you will be able to talk to a public adjuster who would be happy to go through your claim and begin helping you resolve your issue.
