Insurance Claim for Water Damage to My Kitchen

Homeowners Insurance May Cover your Kitchen Damage.

We get calls all the time about this.  Can I file an insurance claim for water damage to kitchen?  Do you think you have a kitchen claim but you are not sure?  Simply put, to answer your question, it depends on the policy and it depends on how the damage happened.

In most cases kitchen cabinets are covered as long as the cause of the damage is listed under one of the covered perils on your homeowner’s insurance policy.  That’s right, we have seen some policies that do not cover water damage.  It is hard to belive they sell policies like this, but it’s true.  However, if your policy does cover water damage, the next thing you should do is figure out the CAUSE of the water damage.  Did a pipe leak or is the water damage from routine use of the sink and water splashed on items over a long period of time causing damage.  Remember, insurace is supposed to pay for damages that occurred sudden and/or accidently.  Pipe leaks generally are covered, but splashing water while you are doing your dishes over the course of 20 years is not covered.

Normal covered causes would be, pipe leakes under the sink, dishwasher leaks, or refrigerator ice maker water feed lines.  These are all probable causes and in most cases, you can file an insurance claim for water damage and  your homeowners company will pay for these losses.  Over the years, we have colected millions of dollars for our clients, for these types of claims.

We Handle Water Damaged Kitchen Claims, and Never Stop Fighting for You.

As a public adjusting firm, it is our job to fight on your behalf, for this coverage.  Don’t assume that your insurance company will pay for a whole new kitchen just because you have a little water stain on the cabinet bottom.  Often times it becomes a fight and that’s where the job of a public adjuster comes in.  For us, a partial repair or replacement is unacceptable.  You should be entiteled to a complete replacement.

Don’t let a $10,000 water damage limit ruin your day!

Moreover, the rules are that insurance companies are required to match materials.  In other words, they cannot agree to change your bottom cabinet without agreeing to replace ALL of the cabinets.   This is likely the reason they don’t always make things easy when trying to get an insurance settlement.  Do you have a granite or quartz countertop?  If so, be careful when your workers lift it, because it is very fragile and oftentimes will break.  Your insurance company should be responsible to pay for your countertop if it breaks.  We fight for this!

Florida Allstar Public Adjusting has been fighting big bully insurance companies since 2007.  Every day, our job is to fight for people who get denied and lowballed by their insurance company.  We get great pleasure in helping people win these claims and recover settlements for kitchen damage claims.   You can call us 24/7 and we will try and answer any questions you may have, and set up a free inspection of your property.   954.659.8333.
